Tagebuch Eintrag Erhard
[edit]Während des Fluges schrieb Erhard Tagebuch 2001:9E8:FB5B:D700:4100:686E:76C6:ABB3 (talk) 12:42, 11 January 2025 (UTC)
- So you mean "During the flight Erhard wrote a diary"? Which flight was that? What changes are you suggesting? Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 12:51, 11 January 2025 (UTC)
Editor instructions in the Popular Culture section
[edit]While possibly intended in good faith, the current phrasing smacks of gatekeeping and elitism, as in "the examples we've selected are good enough, your contribution is not appreciated".
Guys, that is not how to expand and better our project. Rephrasing to more neutral language; basically, if you provide a reliable source, we appreciate your contribution.
tl;dr: stop trying to fend off submissions - this article is not yours. CapnZapp (talk) 08:11, 18 February 2025 (UTC)
- Agree wholeheartedly, if there are more popular culture examples they should not be gatekept. Ashallion (talk) 18:24, 20 March 2025 (UTC)
ADD DICKEY LEE'S SONG "AMELIA EARHART'S LAST FLIGHT"
[edit]In 1973, American singer Dickey Lee released a tribute song to Amelia Earhart entitled "Amelia Earhart's Last Flight". See https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=dickey+lee+amelia. The song is a respectful narration of her disappearance, and therefore ought to be included in the In Popular Culture - Music section of the article. 2600:4040:AC9F:6100:935:6A95:F64C:4858 (talk) 14:24, 19 March 2025 (UTC)
- Dickey Lee is a notable performer, but we would need more than just that WP:PRIMARY source to support the notability of the song (e.g. it's not mentioned anywhere in the Lee article). Although Earhart might be highly relevant to the song, the reverse is not necessarily true. Martinevans123 (talk) 14:29, 19 March 2025 (UTC)
Christopher Tin's "Courage"
[edit]Christopher Tin (composer of famous works in video game music, e.g. Civilization) composed an oratorio on the history of humanity and flight, To Shiver the Sky, which includes 11 separate pieces using famous literature / words as its lyrical composition. Earhart's "Courage" poem constitutes and lends its name to the eighth installment in the oratorio, thus including Earhart in a small collection of some of the most notable figures and events in the history of flight. I would advocate for its inclusion in the Popular Culture / Music section, as its a beautiful setting of her words to choral and orchestral performance and popularizes a little-known aspect of her personality.
